Jesus Christ

The Second Coming

The Second Coming

Hebrews 9:28 “So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

When Jesus came to earth the first time, it was to deal with sin. Though completely innocent, he bore the sins of the world when he died on the cross.

His sacrifice made purification possible for all who believe in him.

Jesus’ first coming was marked by humility – he left the glory of heaven to be born into poverty, live as a servant and die a criminal’s death. The Son of God gave his life to purchase our salvation.

The Second Arrival

This verse promises another coming. When Jesus appears a second time, it will not be to deal with sin again. That work is fully accomplished!

He will return as a conquering King to bring full salvation to all who have put their trust in him.

At his second coming, Jesus will complete God’s plan of redemption. He will raise the dead to life, judge all people, defeat evil forever and usher his faithful ones into eternal joy in a restored creation.

What an awesome day that will be!

Eager Expectation

As followers of Jesus, how should we respond to his promised return?

We are called to live in a state of constant readiness for his arrival. Just as faithful servants watch for their master’s homecoming, we must actively watch and prepare for Jesus’ second coming.

This readiness involves righteous living, eager worship, hearts focused on Christ and lives oriented around his kingdom.

It means shining as lights of hope in a dark world. As we long for Jesus’ return, our love and witness become powerful testimonies to God’s amazing grace.

Come, Lord Jesus!

Our eagerness for Christ’s return springs from a deep love relationship with Him. We yearn to see Jesus face to face, free from sin and imperfection.

We long for the new creation He will bring. Come, Lord Jesus!

May this be the cry of our hearts, whether He comes today or many years from now. No matter how long we wait, we know he is coming soon!

Certain Hope

The validity of our faith hinges on the promise of this verse – that Jesus will literally, bodily, visibly return to earth in power and glory. All creation eagerly awaits this breathtaking moment. Though His coming seems delayed, it is sure. At the appointed time, we will see our Savior face to face!

Come Quickly, Lord

No eye has seen the wonders and joys being prepared for us in eternity with Christ! As we eagerly await Jesus’ return, life’s trials and pains are bearable because we know they are temporary.

Path to Spiritual Growth

Path to Spiritual Growth

James 1:21 offers valuable insights into nurturing our souls and fostering spiritual growth.

“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”

Cleansing and Transformation

James begins by urging us to rid ourselves of “moral filth” and the pervasive evil around us.

This is a call to examine our hearts and lives, identifying and removing the impurities that hinder our spiritual growth. Just as we cleanse our bodies for health, our souls require cleansing for spiritual vitality.

Obey God’s Word

James emphasizes the importance of humbly accepting God’s Word, which has the power to save us. This acceptance involves a posture of openness and receptivity.

To nurture our souls, we must eagerly receive the Word and allow it to take root in our hearts. Remember, Jesus said; “If you love Me, keep My commands.” (John 14:15)

A Lifelong Journey

Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. It’s about continuously seeking God’s transformation in our lives. It requires regular study of Scripture, prayer, and reflection.

As we allow God’s Word to dwell in us, we become more like Christ, reflecting His love, grace, and wisdom.

A Nourished Soul

As you meditate on James 1:21, let it remind you of the importance of cleansing your heart and embracing God’s Word.

A nourished soul is one that constantly seeks God’s presence, allowing His Word to shape and transform.

Our High Calling

Our High Calling

In Hebrews 3:1, we encounter a verse that calls us to reflect on our calling as followers of Christ and to consider the profound implications of this calling.

“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.”

A Heavenly Calling

This verse begins with a powerful “therefore,” indicating a connection with the preceding verses where the writer discusses Jesus’ superiority over Moses.

We are referred to as “holy brothers and sisters,” highlighting our sanctified status through faith in Christ.

We share in a “heavenly calling,” a divine invitation to be part of God’s kingdom.

Fixing Our Thoughts on Jesus

This verse encourages us to “fix our thoughts on Jesus.” This means intentionally directing our minds and hearts toward Him.

Jesus is not only our Savior but also our example. By contemplating His life, teachings, and sacrificial work, we can align our lives with His purpose and character.

Jesus: Apostle and High Priest

In this verse, Jesus is acknowledged as our “apostle and high priest.” As an apostle, He is the sent one—the one sent by God to reveal God’s truth to humanity.

As our high priest, He intercedes on our behalf before God, offering forgiveness and grace. Recognizing these roles, we understand the depth of His love and care for us.

Embracing Your Calling

As you reflect on Hebrews 3:1, embrace your calling as a follower of Christ with humility and gratitude.

Strive to emulate His example of love, service, and obedience. In doing so, you not only honor your heavenly calling but also become a vessel of God’s grace and love in a world that desperately needs it.

A Resurrection Awaits

A Resurrection Awaits

As the Apostle Paul defended his position as a follower of Christ before Felix, a government official; he revealed a powerful truth – There will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. (Acts 24:15)

Certainty of Resurrection

Paul’s words in this verse reveal his unwavering conviction in the reality of resurrection. For some, this truth brings tremendous hope and assurance of an eternity, for others . . . not so much!

Choices to Make

For those who are known by Christ, and belong to Him; the resurrection of the dead will be a glorious event; one in which we will see Him face to face; and the joy and wonder will be off the charts!

For others however, it will be a frightful and terrifying Day, a day of reckoning for rejecting Christ and living a life for themselves, shunning the evidence of God that has been known to them! Yes, that will be a dreadful Day indeed!

How About You?

Have you made the decision to trust Jesus?

Are you now walking hand and hand with Him?

Is He not only your Lord, but your Best Friend?

Do you have peace in your heart that the resurrection of the dead, will be a Great Day for you?

If you are unsure; may I encourage you to find a quiet spot, sit down, and call out to Jesus, and stay there until you hear from Him. Settle it once and for all; and get ready . . . there is a Glorious Day a coming!!!

Abundant Provision

Abundant Provision

Have you ever wondered if God is truly for you? If He is willing to go to great lengths to provide for your needs and fulfill His promises? The book of Romans offers us a powerful verse that speaks to God’s unwavering commitment. Romans 8:32 says;

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

This verse holds a profound truth about God’s abundant provision and care for His children.

Gift of His Son

The verse reminds us of the ultimate act of sacrifice—God giving up His own Son, Jesus Christ, for our sake.

This selfless act demonstrates the incredible lengths God was willing to go to reconcile us to Himself. It reveals the depth of His love and His desire to bring us into a restored relationship with Him.

If God was willing to offer up His Son on our behalf, there is no doubt that He is deeply committed to our well-being and ultimate salvation.

Assurance of Provision

The verse goes on to assure us that if God did not spare His own Son, He will graciously give us all things. This is a powerful statement of God’s provision and care for His children. It speaks to the abundance of His resources and His willingness to meet our needs.

God’s provision extends far beyond our material needs; it encompasses every aspect of our lives—spiritual, emotional, and relational.

He knows our deepest longings and desires, and He is committed to providing for us in ways that are ultimately for our good and His glory.

God’s Promises

Reflecting on Romans 8:32, it is important to remember that God’s provision is not always about giving us everything we want in the way we expect.

His provision is ultimately rooted in His wisdom and perfect knowledge of what is best for us. Sometimes, what we perceive as a lack or delay in provision may be God’s way of molding and shaping us, teaching us to trust Him more deeply.

We are called to trust in His promises, knowing that He is faithful and His ways are higher than our ways.

Gratitude and Faith

Romans 8:32 invites us to live in a posture of gratitude and faith. We recognize the immeasurable gift of God’s Son and His ongoing provision, and our hearts are filled with gratitude.

We can approach life with confidence, knowing that the same God who sacrificed His Son for us will continue to provide for our needs.

The sacrifice of His Son demonstrated the depth of His love, and we can trust that He will graciously give us all things. Rely on His promises, and live with confidence and experience the abundant life that comes from walking in His will.
