“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”
2 Timothy 1:6
This verse refers to spiritual gifts – special abilities bestowed by the Holy Spirit to empower us in our Christian walk. But how do you discover your spiritual gift, and how can you use it to glorify God?
Discovering Your Spiritual Gift

- Pray for discernment: Ultimately, the Holy Spirit reveals your gifts to you. Seek His guidance in prayer.
Fanning the Flame
Once you have a sense of your spiritual gift, don’t let it lie dormant! Here’s how to use your gift and grow in your ministry:
- Find opportunities to serve: Look for ways to use your gift within your church or community.
- Step outside your comfort zone: Don’t be afraid to try new things and expand your reach.
- Seek mentorship: Learn from experienced believers who use similar gifts.
- Pray for growth: Ask God to empower you to use your gift effectively.
Remember, your spiritual gift is not for you, it’s for God and His Church. By using your gift faithfully, you contribute to the body of Christ and glorify God through your unique talents and abilities.
