Ancient of Days

The book of Daniel gives us a vivid image of God’s majesty and power. Daniel has this vision where he sees “thrones set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze” (Daniel 7:9).

A description that leaves us in awe of the greatness and glory of God.

Our God, Who is the Ancient of Days is not an impersonal deity who is distant from us; rather, He is actively involved in the affairs of this world. He reigns with authority and power, and nothing is beyond His control.

In times of uncertainty or chaos, we find peace, remembering that God is seated on His throne, watching over us and working all things for the salvation of the world; His plans will not be thwarted!

The imagery of God’s clothing being white as snow and His hair white like wool signifies His purity and wisdom. As the Ancient of Days, He is timeless and eternal, existing before all things and beyond our comprehension. His wisdom is beyond measure, and His ways are higher than our ways.

In your journey of faith, trust in His perfect wisdom, even when you don’t understand His plans or the circumstances you may face.

God sees the bigger picture, and His guidance and direction will lead you on the right path.

Let the image of the Ancient of Days in Daniel’s vision remind you of the greatness and sovereignty of your God. Take comfort in the fact that He is on His throne, ruling with power and wisdom.

Trust in Him, knowing that He is in control of every situation, and His plans for your life are good.
